At Belmont District Hospital, we are seeking an experienced, compassionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator to join our team. As our newest team member, you will play a vital role in delivering competent education to our junior staff, which will in turn allow our nurses to provide care to patients with varying levels of illness or injury, supporting them and their families through what can often be distressing circumstances. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment. This role works on a 7-day rotating roster, with 60% of your shifts being after hours or weekends.

You won’t be working alone. The selected candidate will be supported by the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Unit Managers, and will be aligned with the Nurse Educator along with the existing team of Clinical Nurse Educators. Supernumery days will be provided, as well as future ongoing professional development opportunities for the right person. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver competent nursing education in a hospital-wide capacity.
  • Contribute to the development of colleagues and identify learning needs
  • Support less experienced staff and acts as preceptor for new staff (when delegated this function)
  • Support the orientation of new staff to the hospital
  • Provide day to day clinical education support and clinical supervision at the point of care
  • Provide 1:1 informal education
  • Provide support for skill development in clinical procedures, professional development, clinical policy development.
  • Implement and evaluate education programs

Essential criteria: 

  • Current Registered Nurse with AHPRA plus relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications and clinical experience.
