What you'll be doing

SESLHD’s Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Service (SHBBV) provide leadership, innovation and research in the sector. There are services within SHBBV involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD, as well as four statewide services.
Across these services, care is provided via fixed locations and outreach networks to a client base of approximately 28,000 individuals. SHBBV has highly skilled and diverse staff including nursing, medical, allied health, health promotion, administrative and technical staff. It is the largest SHBBV service in Australia.
The role is primarily based at Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC). Sydney Sexual Health Centre is one of three facilities within the Sexual Health clinical services which also includes The Albion Centre and The Short Street Centre.
The role will work in collaboration with local interdisciplinary teams to ensure a streamlined approach to client centered delivery of care across the three Sexual Health facilities. Cross facility support and travel may be required where necessary.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant 1 has responsibility for providing advanced clinical service delivery, planning, management and consultancy. The role provides clinical leadership and education to nurses, oversees research and quality improvement activities and ensures a culture of safety and governance is embedded in clinical practice and service delivery within SHBBV services. The position coordinates and delivers external and internal research programs and quality improvement activities in conjunction with the CNC3.
Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and current NSW Driver’s License (if required by service).
Minimum five years full time equivalent post graduate qualification experience and a post graduate qualification relevant to field of practice, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
Knowledge of research methodology and Good Clinical Research Practice Guidelines standards and experience in the conduct of clinical research trials.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based research.
Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums.
