We are looking for someone to utilise their specialist skills and knowledge in working as part of a highly specialised team of clinicians.

The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2- Eating Disorders is to drive an improved service response to consumers with an eating disorder across the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (LHD) , in all inpatient and community settings. The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 will lead and provide expert clinical consultancy practice in the development and implementation of a eating disorders education and professional development model for service delivery and direct consumer care that seeks to maximise the effective use of current resources and identifies requirements for service development. This includes providing leadership and direction for quality improvement and clinical service standards. The position will lead skill development in coaching, clinical supervision and leadership with a strong focus on upskilling staff in eating disorders knowledge, screening, escalation, supported decision making and collaborations with carers, service users and service providers.

The position will act as a role model and be responsible for engaging with staff, carers, patients and consumers to facilitate, support and evaluate practice change related to patient care, fostering excellence in clinical, educational and professional leadership.

The incumbent will collaborate with others across the district in the development, design and delivery of education and professional development programs pertaining to contemporary models of eating disorders care and patient safety. The position will also support frontline staff to identify future issues and new directions for the Mental Health Service. Development in eating disorders, test and evaluate a range of targeted, service focussed improvement strategies, locally based research and interventions to systematically reduce harm experienced by people with an eating disorder receiving care from services in SESLHD. As part of the Eating Disorders Clinical Support Team, this position will also provide direct targeted clinical care that supplements existing service provision to people with an eating disorder in inpatient, community-based and virtual care settings.

Selection Criteria:

 

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, and minimum five years' full time equivalent post-graduate experience, with at least three years’ full time equivalent experience in the specialty field of eating disorders. Hold or working towards relevant tertiary qualification relevant to eating disorders, or qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
  2. Demonstrated expert level clinical expertise and leadership in the identification, assessment, management and treatment of individuals with eating disorders and their families.
  3. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving and decision making skills in relation to managing responsibilities.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs to enhance a high standard of care and collaboration with carers, service users and service providers.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change and develop direction in clinical practice by initiation, utilisation, review and translation of evidence based research into practice.
  6. Computer literacy and understanding of relevant information systems.
  7. Experience in working within a practice developmental framework, including experience in facilitating groups.
  8. Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
