What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical guidance, leadership, and education within a specialised field to enhance patient care and healthcare practices. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Developing and evaluating care plans for patients with complex needs.
  • Leading advancements in clinical practice and patient care.
  • Applying research to improve clinical services and outcomes.
  • Delivering specialised education to staff, patients, and carers.
  • Contributing to strategic and operational healthcare planning.

As part of this role, the CNC will work closely with Integrated Geriatric Emergency Medicine (iGEM), a newly established Model of Care (MOC) at Blacktown Emergency Department. iGEM aims to improve the experience and outcomes of patients presenting from Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs). iGEM operates as an Emergency Department Short Stay Unit (EDSSU), physically separated but closely located to the main ED, allowing for a more tailored, patient-centred approach to the care of older adults in the emergency setting. The CNC will play a key leadership role in supporting and embedding this model, promoting excellence in geriatric emergency care.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.

Selection Criteria:

  1.  5 years post graduate experience and holds approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to the specialty or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate
  2. Current unrestricted NSW driver's license
  3. Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  5. Extensive knowledge of good clinical practice, policies and procedure
  6. Proven ability to consult, review, and develop, both new and existing policies and procedures within the relevant speciality
  7. Computer skills including word processing, presentation, spread sheet applications and clinical information systems
