What you'll be doing
- The Clinical Midwifery Consultant (CMC) Grade 2 for Maternity Services at Auburn Hospital will work collaboratively with staff, specialist, and nurses across Western Sydney Local Health District. The CMC will be providing a consultancy service for Mother's and Babies.
- The CMC for Maternity Services at Auburn Hospital will provide leadership in the development and enhancement of Maternity Services for women's and children's health.
- The CMC for Maternity Services at Auburn Hospital is a clinical expert in women's and children's health and resource to staff.
- The CMC for Maternity Services at Auburn Hospital promotes a service which fosters clinical excellence, research & professional leadership.
- The CMC for Maternity Services at Auburn Hospital will actively participate in the multidisciplinary teams and will be involved in care planning.
- The CMC will be responsible for expert clinical organisation, coordination, leadership, and promoting, reviewing and measuring clinical risk across maternity services, and will undertake relevant quality activities, including reviewing and development of local high risk policies and guidelines.
- The CMC will work in close liaison with the Midwifery Managers, CMC/CNC's, Educators, and the Obstetrics and Gynaecology portfolio leads. The position will also promote and facilitate the development and implementation of continuity of care models for maternity service provision and work in consultation and collaboration with the Women's & Children's Midwife & Nurse Manager to lead relevant local, District, State and National Maternity initiative.

Essential Requirements
- Registration: Current and valid registration as a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- At least five (5) years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent in Midwifery. Holding or working towards relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications in a specialty area, education and/or research.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated advanced communication including verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with clients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health team in a manner than ensures responsiveness of care needs and resolves conflicts when they arise and advanced information technology skills to provide consultancy services and deliver innovative midwifery practice
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively both independently and as part of the multidisciplinary health care team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement, practice development and evidence-based practice critical review
- Demonstrated personal attributes including resilience, accountability, integrity and ability to manage self.
- Demonstrated ability to identify education needs and deliver education for patients/clients and health care professionals
- Demonstrated ability to function as a senior leader within a complex health organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking and problem solving skills as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidence based Women and Children's Health midwifery.
