About the role:

The Family Care Cottage (FCC) is supported by a dedicated team of Child and Family Health Nurses (CFHN) and a Social Worker, who deliver a combination of "day stay," clinic, and outreach services on weekdays (excluding public holidays).

In this role, the CFHN provides essential education and assistance on a variety of topics, including infant feeding difficulties, sleep patterns, infant crying and settling, toddler behaviour, infant-carer attachment, and managing feelings of depression and anxiety.

The CFHN is also responsible for receiving and triaging referrals from various settings to ensure that families receive timely support. This position requires effective collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team and external services to comprehensively address the unique needs of each family.

The Family Care Cottage (FCC) is a free and confidential Community Health Service located in Tamworth, NSW. It provides a wide range of support, counselling, and educational services tailored to the needs of expectant parents and families with babies and children aged 0 to 3 years. FCC aims to foster healthy family dynamics, offering resources and guidance on parenting, infant care, and child development to help families thrive during these early years.

Requirements:

Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
  • Child and Family Health Qualifications.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW with a current drivers licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.


About you:

This role will require you to have a recent background in Child and Family Health Nursing, with further study in infant/carer mental health and attachment being advantageous. 

Our ideal candidate will also:

  • Be able to demonstrate a strong passion for working with children and their families, building positive and supportive relationships.
  • Have experience and/or additional training in breastfeeding and artificial feeding support.
  • Have the ability to work safely and autonomously within the broader multidisciplinary team.
  • Have practical experience in supporting families and their infants with sleep and settling.
  • Have a willingness to gain experience through one of Tresillian's day-stay or residential centres, if required.

  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent part time and temporary part time vacancies.
