Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is seeking a Peer Worker to join the headspace Platform — a service dedicated to supporting young people experiencing mental health challenges. Peer Workers play a vital role in offering guidance, empathy, and hope, drawing on their own lived experience to help others navigate their path to recovery.

 

About the Role

Draw on and share your personal experience with mental health challenges, as well as your journey in gaining and maintaining employment or further study, to support young people through peer-based support. Working under the guidance of the Individual Placement & Support Program (IPS) Vocational Specialists, you'll provide support that aligns with each young person's individual vocational and recovery goals.

Working hours are Monday to Friday – 8.30am to 5.00pm

About You

·        Evidence of personal experience as a consumer of mental health services and of ongoing recovery with an ability to utilise that lived experience to support others appropriately with their own mental health recovery journey.

·        Demonstrated capacity to undertake the role without undue negative impact on your mental health through planning and implementing effective strategies to maintain wellness.

·        Ability to communicate warmly and effectively with young people, their families and a diverse range of health and community service providers, employers and educational institutions.

·       Demonstrated clear written and verbal communication skills including competent use of range of Microsoft office programs and other information technology.

·       Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent or commitment to undertake within agreed timescale and willingness to participate in relevant training and supervision for youth peer workers.

·       Evidence of a current Class C drivers’ licence and/or ability and willingness to travel for work purpose
