About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Specialist Eating Disorder Clinician to facilitate high-level clinical services and support to young people and their families aged 0 - 24 years old experiencing eating disorders. This position offers the opportunity to work in both community and hospital-based settings, including mental health inpatient units.

In this role, you will work across the district to provide expert consultation, liaise with a variety of healthcare providers, and lead the provision of eating disorder-specific care and support. You will also play a pivotal role in building the capacity of non-eating disorder services to provide early identification and brief intervention, promoting cultural change, and enhancing awareness of eating disorders.

This role has good career support and progression with NSW Health offering bespoke professional and clinical development packages to support you in transitioning careers or to further develop your specialist clinical skills and competencies in the area of eating disorders. This position will receive a comprehensive education, clinical mentorship and professional development package tailored to the needs of the individual and the position. Package can include: Access to a program of regular clinical mentorship from Australian and international leading clinical experts in eating disorders: Support for a program of supervision to register with professional colleges and access to a suite of eating disorder specific training in evidence-based packages - online and face to face.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide access to specialist eating disorder services, consultation, and support in both community and hospital-based settings, including mental health inpatient units.
  • Liaise with tertiary hospitals in Sydney and Newcastle for the transfer of care of young people to and from the Central Coast.
  • Lead and develop eating disorder-specific care for young people, carers, families, and healthcare professionals across the health district.
  • Promote cultural change and awareness of eating disorders within the healthcare environment.
  • Provide expert consultation on complex cases and develop clinical practice and service delivery strategies to ensure effective, timely, and high-quality care.
  • Build the capacity of non-specialist services in early identification and treatment.

About You: 
  • You have a NSW Unrestricted Drivers Licence
  • You have or wiling to obtain a NSW Working with Childrens Check
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant health profession (e.g., psychology, social work, nursing) with eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body. 
  • A passion for promoting awareness and cultural change in the understanding and treatment of eating disorders
  • Senior clinical leadership skills, including experience providing consultation and training to multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working in a clinical setting with a focus on eating disorders, mental health, or similar specialties
