About your new role:

Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is a 99-bed facility providing a comprehensive range of services including acute medical and surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics and a range of diagnostic and allied health services. The Armidale Paediatric Unit is an 8-bed general Paediatric Unit caring for infants, children and young people across the Armidale and Northern Tablelands region.

  •         Our unit is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide safe compassionate care within the unit, ensuring care is delivered in collaboration with patients/families/carers and a multidisciplinary team.
  •         You will be an advocate for our local paediatric patients and their families while they access our service.
  •         You will be able to escalate concerns appropriately and collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

This role offers the chance to work autonomously, empowering Nurses to apply their clinical expertise and decision-making skills in a dynamic environment. However, you’ll never be without support. You will receive access to orientation both virtual and in person, along with support from a clinical nurse educator and nurse unit manager with access to continued professional development.

Where you will be working:

Armidale is set high on the picturesque Northern Tablelands, located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and is known for its beautiful tree lined streets and magnificent autumn colours and has a distinctive seasonal climate. The region offers diversity in outdoor activities such as bushwalking in the nearby World Heritage listed National Parks offering spectacular gorges and waterfalls in Australia.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  •         Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  •         Demonstrated understating of paediatric specific conditions, procedures, unique physiology, care requirements and medications consistent with that found in core NSW Health paediatric education inclusive of DETECT Jnr, SKIP and Resus4Kids.
  •         Availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/seven-day rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays.
