About the opportunity
NSW Health Pathology is currently seeking a Call Centre Operator to join the team at Sutherland Hospital. This is a temporary full time position however the role may be divided into two part-time positions depending on suitability.
The Call Centre is located within the Pathology building which is shared with blood collection outpatients, as well as the central specimen reception and laboratory departments. The call centre covers the Sydney South East area and operates the results line for clinicians and patients.
We are a small team that work well together and rely on one another to get pathology results to their required destinations. Duties include but are not limited to operating the results line and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, faxing pending results manually and electronically, getting in contact with different laboratories to get an estimated wait time on results, interacting with the NSWHP test catalogue online and greeting/interacting with pathology patients daily.
The call centre operates Monday to Friday, with shifts starting as early as 7:30 AM and finishing no later than 6:00 PM.

- A working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, all aspects of the laboratory environment relevant to the Department
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities
- Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, preferably in a laboratory environment, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues within the laboratory environment
- Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy
- Awareness of legislation, policies and requirements relevant to a laboratory setting
