About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Brachytherapy Specialist (Radiation Therapist Level 3 Grade 2) with a passion for innovation and excellence to advance their career in Brachytherapy. As part of a collaborative and forward-focused team, you’ll contribute to the continued evolution of Brachytherapy services by supporting research, developing new protocols, and driving quality improvement initiatives.

 

What You'll be Doing
The Brachytherapy Radiation Therapist will co-ordinate and undertake Brachytherapy projects within the Radiation Therapy team across the Liverpool and Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centres, covering all aspects of clinical Brachytherapy treatment planning and delivery, developmental work, training and Brachytherapy research projects. They will mentor staff undertaking Brachytherapy, participate in multidisciplinary Brachytherapy projects and promote the development and continuation of first-class patient care.

 

Where You'll Be Working 
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  1. Successful completion of a degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) and should have completed at least Level 2 Year 4 with AHPRA Registration as a Radiation Therapist and Hold, or eligible to hold, a NSW EPA Radiation Licence.
  2. Completion of, or intention to, undertake postgraduate study in Radiation Therapy or a relevant field with an appropriate Brachytherapy or Radiotherapy component.
  3. Can demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the principles & practices of Brachytherapy planning and treatment and also a high level of understanding of Radiation Therapy QA and Radiation Safety principles and practices, particularly those that relate to Brachytherapy.
  4. Evidence of active participation/involvement in Brachytherapy through associated reports, presentations, conferences, active participation in Brachytherapy interest groups, publications or workplace in-services.
  5. Demonstrated leadership ability, including the capacity to promote initiative within a group, being self-motivated and self-directed to supervise, educate, train and objectively assess Radiation Therapists, SPP's and student RT's in current & new practice and technologies and provide advice to remedy deficiencies in knowledge and skills.
  6. Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, spoken and written, ability to clearly communicate complex issues to all levels of staff including Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists and Nursing staff particularly relating to Brachytherapy input and activities, other Brachytherapy Radiation Therapists across NSW and Australasia, as well as the ability to relate with patients, visitors and the various staff groups within the hospital.
