Paediatric Basic Trainee

NSW Paediatric Physician Training Networks (Western, Northern, Eastern)

Are you looking for a rewarding career in Paediatrics. Do you see yourself joining a Paediatric Physician Training Network, where you will be nurtured and supported throughout your training, whilst also becoming an integral part in helping the community?

Paediatric Basic Training positions are accredited for basic training in General Paediatrics or Subspecialty training as outlined by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. These positions are attached to one of the three NSW Paediatric Physician Training Networks (i.e. Western, Northern or Eastern Paediatric Physician Training Networks), each of which is made up of a number of health care facilities. As these are network positions, they involve training in a variety of locations and clinical departments. Duties will be performed at more than one place of work. To comply with Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) training program requirements, trainees may be required to work in accredited facilities (including private hospitals); facilities may be outside of NSW. The composition of each training network is provided in the attached document. There may be additional accredited facilities not listed.

This position is open to all applicants and is also targeted for Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply and greater consideration will be given to suitable Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander applicants, in order to improve access to employment and career opportunities. Exemption is claimed under Section 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW. If applying as an Australian Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander, please include some information about your Aboriginal Australian / Torres Strait Islander identity in the cover letter of your application. If offered an interview, you can expand on this information at the interview itself in response to questions.

Trainees complete Basic Training over three years (36 months full time equivalent) guided by the Basic Training handbooks and curricula in Paediatrics & Child Health.
