Where you'll be working
Ryde Hospital is currently undergoing an exciting $479 million Redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community. The Redevelopment will result in new and enhanced health facilities and services including emergency, critical care, inpatient, community, ambulatory care services and more. With construction commenced early 2023, this is an opportunity for you to form part of the team that will transform the future of health Services in the Ryde Community.

What you'll be doing
To provide effective after-hour clinical management of ward inpatients across all acute and subacute wards and the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), functioning as the most senior doctor on site for these areas. 
The position-holder is expected to consult as appropriate with relevant Ryde-based consultants and specialty registrars (e.g. General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Anaesthetics, ICU, ED) as well as to the specialty teams at other facilities as needed. The successful applicant will be expected to to supervise the afterhours ward JMOs, with key tasks including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, managing emergencies, performing procedures, participating in patient flow, and maintaining accurate and thorough medical records and ensuring effective clinical handover at the end of each shift.       

Work hours from August 2025 (Please note as this is for current clinical year and ongoing for 2026) 

Monday to Friday 1600-2200
Weekend and Public Holidays 0800-2200



  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
  3. High level communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience
  4. Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  5. 5.Demonstrated high level independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly.
  6. Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to General and Acute Care Medicine through training and experience
