Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for an Advanced Trainee to complement and enhance the current Public Health department.

Where You'll Be Working
The South Western Sydney Public Health Unit (PHU) contributes to the health and well-being of over one million people living in the District. The population is diverse and growing. The new international airport will open in 2026 bringing interesteing challenges to the region.
Located in the Liverpool CBD, the PHU is close to public transport, shopping centres, cafes and eateries.
What you'll be doing
- Develop public health expertise and public health management skills in health protection in South Western Sydney (SWS) Local Health District.
- Assist in the surveillance, investigation and management of established and emerging infectious disease risks in SWSLHD.
- Assist in the provision of immunisation advice and contribute to the implementation of immunisation programs within the SWSLHD.
- Assist the Public Health Unit to meet its regulatory responsibilities under the Public Health Act 2010 and Regulation, Local Government Act 1993 and Regulations, Public Health (Tobacco) Act and Regulation, Smoke Free Environment Act 2000.
- Contribute to the management of environmental health hazards applying human health risk assessment and management approaches.
- Initiate and contribute to public health research activities relevant to the SWSLHD.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Enrolled, or eligible for the RACP Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) Advanced Training Program.
- Have completed a Master of Public Health (or comparable Master’s Degree), which includes the Faculty of Public Health Medicine core discipline areas.
- Demonstrated understanding of interest in and commitment to the field of public health.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to health equity and /cultural safety.
- Sound understanding of epidemiology, biostatistics, health systems, and public health policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including report writing and presentations), demonstrated leadership, time-management and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to working in multidisciplinary teams and with stakeholders across government, community, and health services.
