Apply now for an Advanced Trainee position in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, commencing as soon as possible (2025 Clinical Year) within the Northern Rivers - Richmond Network (Lismore Base Hospital, Ballina District Hospital, Casino Memorial Hospital).
This is a temporary, full-time, maternity leave relief position, covering leave for the remainder of the clinical year (until 1 February 2026).
The successful applicant will have a commitment to working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and be looking to gain further experience working under the guidance of highly experienced senior clinicians in a busy regional hospital.
Where you'll be working
The Richmond Network encompasses Ballina District Hospital, Casino Memorial Hospital and Lismore Base Hospital (LBH). LBH is the recognized Regional Trauma Centre for the North Coast Region and is linked to the local helicopter retrieval service. Recently completed facilities include a brand new education space including library and auditorium, along with a modern Emergency Department, Medical, Surgical and Paediatric wards, Maternity Unit and state-of-the-art Theatres complex.
A wide range of medical and surgical sub-specialties exist on campus. Lismore Base Hospital plays an important role in providing high level specialist services at a regional level including access to a formalised Retrieval Service providing service over a 300km radius. Specialist emergency and elective surgical services including Vascular and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. Renal Dialysis and Renal Dialysis home-based training. Diagnostic and interventional cardiology.
Lismore City is situated between the pristine beaches of Ballina, Lennox Head, Evans Head, and Byron Bay, and World Heritage listed rainforests. The northern rivers region is full of natural wonders and vibrant destinations, all within a short drive from Lismore. This area is blessed by a tropical climate with a short winter, along with access to lush hinterland villages, sparkling beaches, and a short commute to Gold Coast airport, and metro shopping centres.
The Advanced Trainee in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including inpatient ward care, birthing unit, theatres and outpatients (antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology) clinics.
What you'll be doing
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role (please address these in your response)
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
- Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
