  2. Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (Note – This is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination act 1977 NSW).
  3. The applicant must hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) and a current authority to practice as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  4. Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including their primary health and welfare needs and experience in providing support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with willingness to undertake training in palliative care, advance care planning and grief and loss.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to plan, develop, deliver, document and evaluate health promotion and education initiatives with effective skills in a range of office computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite including the capacity to learn other relevant programs, including those for patient records and data reporting.
  6. High level skills in time management, liaison and negotiation, written and verbal communication, including the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a high demand environment with competing demands, with experience in providing support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and carers.
