Join the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service (AMIHS) team at Moree Community Health Service and walk alongside Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women through their pregnancy journey and into early motherhood.

As an Aboriginal Health Worker / Practitioner, you will provide trusted, culturally safe care and support to Aboriginal families, helping to create healthy beginnings and stronger futures for the next generation.

You’ll be part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team that values your voice, your lived experience, and your cultural insight.


What you'll be doing 

  • Support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women during pregnancy and up to 8 weeks after birth through home visits, clinic care, and community outreach.
  • Deliver education and care that is grounded in culture, respect, and dignity.
  • Work alongside midwives, child and family health nurses, and local health services to ensure families receive coordinated, wraparound care.
  • Participate in outreach clinics in Mungindi and Collarenebri, and contribute to specialist clinics with support from John Hunter Hospital.
  • Be part of a team that is committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal mothers and babies.

Requirements

  • A minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or another relevant health qualification.
  • If you don’t yet have a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice), we will support you to achieve this through study leave and training.
