About the Role

Sydney Local Health District is one of the fastest growing Local Health Districts in New South Wales. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring. 

    

In this position, you will be providing advice and support to the Executive Director, Aboriginal Health to influence strategic direction to ensure the delivery of high quality health services to Aboriginal people within Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).

Ideal Candidate

  • This is an identified Aboriginal position, applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent through proof of Aboriginality. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  • Aboriginal Health management experience with high level ability to use data/evidence to take a lead role to, inform planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of Aboriginal Health initiatives and strategies that improve Aboriginal Health Models of care and organization performance.
  • Highly developed knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of Aboriginal health service delivery, including the role of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
  • Knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks for health policy issues, Aboriginal health and the social, cultural, political and health issues affecting Aboriginal people, families and communities.
  • Ability to manage complex and sensitive issues at state and local level using high level analytical, critical appraisal and problem solving skills. 

 

This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977.
