  2. Must be Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti Discrimination Act 1977 with knowledge and experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Aboriginal Qualification Pathway - Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) or other relevant counselling degree deemed appropriate by the employer. Social Workers must have eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and post graduate experience at a minimum of level 2 or above. Psychologists must have a four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology; or a qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  4. Demonstrated understanding and skills in providing culturally responsive child centred, family focussed counselling, support and case management to individuals who have experienced sexual assault and/ or other forms of interpersonal violence and their families. Demonstrated ability to create connections, engagement and collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, contextual and causal factors for violence, abuse and neglect and the principles of cultural safety. Demonstrated experience participating in and/or leading quality improvement activities, service development and evaluation.
  5. Demonstrated high level understanding of the dynamics and effects of sexual assault and demonstrated experience in best practice models for working with children, young people and adults who have experienced sexual abuse/ trauma and an understanding of legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.
  6. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to specialist and cultural supervision and professional education and if relevant to application, experience providing clinical supervision and leading education and teaching to staff and/or students.
  8. Ability to participate in the PARVAN On Call Service, current unrestricted NSW Driver's License and willingness to provide services at different locations within NSLHD.
