What you'll be doing

The discharge lounge provides short term care and supervision for patients waiting to be discharged from the hospital. The EEN liaises with the Nursing Unit Managers, nursing staff, medical teams and patient flow manager to identify and transfer patients to the discharge lounge from the inpatient units at the earliest time of day possible. The key responsibility of the EEN is to provide nursing care for patients in a safe and competent manner. Nursing practice should reflect current knowledge of nursing and related disciplines.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Enrolled Nurse Medication Endorsed (Division 2) with a current Authority to Practice from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in constantly changing environment and understanding of patient flow principles.
  3. Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Recent acute clinical experience, preferably across a variety of hospital settings.
  6. Computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
