What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the trainee in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision to provide patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This includes both Adult and Paediatric patients. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.

The trainee is expected to function at the trainee level, supervise and also participate in teaching Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students and taking part in research where appropriate.
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Must have completed at least three postgraduate years training including a minimum 12 months full time Emergency Medicine experience in an Australian Public Hospital or equivalent (not as an Observer)
  3. Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
  4. Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in 24-hour shift work roster.
  5. Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
