What you'll be doing

Develop appropriate knowledge and technical skills to fulfil the requirements of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) for training in Forensic Pathology and to become a competent Forensic Pathologist.

The Forensic Medicine Training Program in NSW includes Forensic Medicine Newcastle, the Forensic Medicine and Coroner's Court Complex in Lidcombe and Forensic Medicine Wollongong. Trainees may be expected to rotate throughout the duration of their contract.

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. Evidence of general registration and 24 months of clinical experience.
  3. Demonstrated vocational interest in Forensic Pathology such as relevant skills, previous employment, training or research in Anatomical or Forensic Pathology or related fields.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management including participation in quality improvement initiatives.
  5. Proven ability to work as a team member with effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  6. Demonstrated personal qualities including motivation, initiative, excellent time management and commitment to professional development.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2024_015 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases. All staff employed by NSW FASS may be required to supply a reference buccal sample so that their DNA profile can be compared to other generated profiles to exclude the possibility of contamination.
