An exciting opportunity to join the Intensive Care team at the Northern Beaches Hospital.
This position is appropriate for medical officers (PGY 4 and above) who are interested in training in intensive care medicine. Trainees will either be registered with, or in the process of applying to, the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). The position is suitable for Trainees at all stages of their training and based on clinical experience and level of training. The position will offer opportunities for training time in anaesthesia and perioperative care, emergency / acute medicine and longitudinal medicine.
The purpose of the position is to provide effective clinical management and excellent care to critically ill patients under the supervision of an Intensive Care Specialist. Trainees will be expected to develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment, and to participate in the core training program of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.

Northern Beaches Hospital
Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport.
The Northern Beaches Hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors, teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors.
On level 4 of the 9-storey hospital is the Education Centre where doctors can access a range of facilities. These include the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations, plus various meeting rooms and conference areas.
There is capability to stream education sessions to/from other facilities, as well as within the hospital for the simulation rooms and theatres.

- 2. Demonstrated time management and problem-solving skills in the clinical setting.
- 3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- 4. Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences
- 5. Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- 6. Demonstrated career goal to undertake further training in intensive care medicine and demonstrated aptitude for acute care medicine.
