About The Opportunity
Bowral & District Hospital is seeking an experienced Sterilisation Technician to join their team as a Maternity leave relief position (until 15 March 2026), who is responsible for:
- Provide clean, sterile, or disinfected items and/or equipment to stakeholders within Bowral & District Hospital
- Preparation of daily operations and sterile stock rotation and control in 2 the operating suite sterile stock room
- Reprocessing of flexible endoscopes in a dedicated scope reprocessing room within the perioperative services.
If you have:
- A Certificate 3 in Sterilisation Services
- Availability and capacity to participate in a rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays.
- Understanding of WHS and infection control principles pertaining to the CSSD environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently in line with the position description.
- Sound attention to detail to ensure quality objectives and to meet the required standards of the Sterilising Department

What You'll Be Doing
The purpose of Grade 2 Sterilisation Technician is to provide a quality customer service by undertaking the operational activities performed by the Sterilising Services Department, for the process of reusable medical devices in accordance with AS/NZS4187:2014. This position requires a sound level of experience with ability to work independently, under general supervision and provides support to Grade 1 Sterilising Technician

Bowral & District Hospital, located in the picturesque Southern Highlands of NSW, offers a unique blend of rural charm and cosmopolitan amenities. As part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, it has strong connections to tertiary facilities at Campbelltown and Liverpool.
The hospital originally opened in 1889 and has undergone significant redevelopment, with the first stage completed in December 2020. This $123 million redevelopment includes a new Clinical Services Building with a modern emergency department, operating theatres, and inpatient wards. The ongoing second stage will further enhance outpatient services and include a new Aboriginal Dreaming Garden.

- Certificate II or III in Health Service Assistance (Sterilisation Services) or equivalent & Experience working in a Hospital Sterilising Services Department with sound knowledge and understanding of AS 5369: 2023, Infection Prevention and Control and WH&S requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as an integral team member under the guidance of a Staff Supervisor for the process of complex medical devices including Orthopaedic loan equipment.
- Ability to prioritise and communicate workload to achieve quality and timely process outcomes.
- Sound communication ability with a high standard of written and verbal skills to ensure effective listening, understanding, and following direction.
