The department of Geriatric Medicine Integrated Care Networks and Partnerships (ICNP) offer a comprehensive range of programs and facilities designed to support older adults and individuals with disabilities, helping them live independently and with dignity.
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Geriatric Medicine to join our team. This position will involve providing expert services in the following areas:
Geriatric Medicine Consultations: In public hospital settings.
- In-Patient Management: Managing patients in acute or sub-acute beds within public hospitals.
- Community Clinics: Delivering specialised care in clinics located at Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace, Wallsend, Windale, Toronto, Newcastle, Singleton, Scone, Kurri Kurri, Maitland, and Morisset.
- Hospital Collaboration: Working across multiple hospitals within the Hunter New England Local Health District, including John Hunter Hospital, Belmont District Hospital, and Maitland Hospital.
About You:
- Qualifications: Hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Geriatric Medicine).
- Experience: Demonstrate recent clinical experience at the consultant level in Geriatric Medicine.
- Teamwork: Exhibit the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership.
- On-Call Participation: Participate in the on-call roster for Geriatric Medicine.
- Leadership: Act as a team leader and member of appropriate multidisciplinary teams, providing medical representation within Aged Care Assessment Teams.
- Patient Care: Ensure appropriate arrangements for patients on discharge from hospital to maximize continuity of care and promote positive health outcomes.
