What you'll be doing
Step into a senior leadership role as Social Work Team Leader in Stroke and Rehab at Westmead Hospital. Drive complex care, lead a team, and shape aged care services. Key responsibilities are to:
- Lead and deliver expert psychosocial care in Stroke & Aged Care
- Manage a high-performing team across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Provide clinical supervision and education to staff and students
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex cases
- Drive service innovation and contribute to strategic planning
This is a temporary full-time position until 04/08/2025, with a strong possibility of extension subject to organisational requirements.

Essential Criteria:
- Qualification: Accredited Degree in Social Work
- Registration in line with Award requirements: Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). For overseas qualifications, evidence of eligibility for AASW must be provided at the time of application.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of social work services in Aged Care, Stroke and or Rehabilitation, in a hospital or community setting
- Demonstrated high level skills in psychosocial assessments, adjustment to illness / disability / new diagnosis /abuse of older people / Guardianship matters, NDIS matters, grief and bereavement, accommodation placements and complex familial presentations.
- Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures for service improvement and skills in providing training and education
- Demonstrated well-developed time management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing skills, and high-level computer literacy.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and implement quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and support ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership including experience in staff and / or student supervision.
- Willingness to participate in the After Hours Crisis On-Call Social Work Service, and Unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence
