What you'll be doing

We are seeking a Senior Speech Pathologist to join our team and provide expert assessment and treatment for adults with neurogenic conditions. This role focuses on Motor Neurone Disease and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) management, from diagnosis through to palliative care.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for adults with neurogenic impairments.
• Specialising in Motor Neurone Disease and AAC management.
• Offering care from diagnosis through to palliative care, including community support.
• Working collaboratively with the wider Speech Pathology team.
• Supporting external Speech Pathologists with consultative advice.

Essential Criteria

• Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology that provides eligibility for full membership to Speech Pathology Australia.

Selection Criteria

1. Advanced clinical experience and demonstrated competency in the evidence-based assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing impairment (including the provision of objective assessment) in an adult neurogenic caseload.
2. Clinical experience in the management of those with progressive neurological conditions primarily Motor Neurone Disease.
3. Clinical experience or demonstrated knowledge in high-tech AAC.
4. Excellent communication skills, time management and organisational skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with limited supervision, apply independent professional judgement and high-level clinical reasoning skills, whilst working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and experience in leading and developing quality improvement initiatives and implementing evidence-based practice.
7. Demonstrated experience and skill in clinical supervision and teaching of staff and/or students.
