Senior Policy Officer – SPO Medical Workforce

Senior Policy Officer

The Senior Policy Officer is responsible for program development and advice on matters related to education, training and distribution of the specialist and non-specialist medical workforce. The role will be involved in multiple projects related to the NSW medical workforce, including standardisation of experience for final year medical students, transition to independent practice for our Rural Generalist workforce, IMG Clinical Readiness Program and management of reporting requirements and data analysis. The role will also support some high-level workforce committees.

This role will suit someone interested in developing their skills in program management with a keen interest in the medical and the multidisciplinary workforce.

Clerk Grade 9/10 salary, from $125,693 to $138,510 (plus Super and Annual Leave loading)

About you:

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience to align with the role description and selection criteria.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working and consulting with government and non-government agencies and a wide range of stakeholders to address sensitive and/or contentious issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the processes for, and experience in policy development and analysis, project management, including financial and risk management and preparation of workforce advice.
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-directed work and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
