About the role

The Centre for Oral Health Strategy leads the strategic development and coordination of oral health policy and programs for NSW. The Centre monitors the implementation of population health-based oral health prevention initiatives and public oral health service delivery in NSW.


The Senior Project and Policy Officer for Priority Populations is responsible for driving, implementing and managing projects and policies to improve the experience of priority populations in accessing public dental services.


Health Manager level 3, starting salary from $122,850.00 - $139,559.00 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 38-hour work week.


What you will do


You will have the opportunity to drive and manage projects towards significant outcomes and make a real difference by supporting and advocating for priority populations.  


Projects for this role may include but are not limited to:

  • Develop linkages and a pathway model between Alcohol and Other Drugs and Oral Health Services.
  • Explore strategic oral health opportunities to improve the way we are currently working, including future health opportunities for priority populations.
  • Improve dental access for Refugee and Asylum Seekers.
  • Priority population integration across services.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in health service management or equivalent industry experience in dentistry or public health, including a demonstrated understanding of public sector oral health service issues, policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to make judgements and to work within a team approach to approve changes in standards, practices, policies and procedures in public sector oral health.
  • Experience in project management from design to evaluation to reach predicted outcomes against strategic and business plans.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working and consulting with government and nongovernment agencies, Aboriginal communities and a wide range of stakeholders to address sensitive and/or contentious issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the processes for, and experience in policy development and analysis, and project management, including financial and risk management.
  • High-level analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information rapidly and accurately.
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-directed work and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
