We’re currently seeking an experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist to assist with the Haematology Digital Morphology Rollout - an initiative set to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.

What you'll be doing

Responsible for the management of scientific, technical and support staff, all testing and associated activities of the Hematology Digital Morphology roll out project, including working with the medical and scientific counterparts across the state on policies, procedures, forms and all scientific analysis. The position is responsible for preparing laboratories for the accreditation of digital morphology scanning and/or reporting scope including verifications and training staff. They oversee the scientific quality of the project and support the project manager to ensure cost, operational integrity and regulatory compliance requirements are met.

  1. Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution
  2. Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with negotiation skills, report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
  3. Proven leadership and management skills and experience including operational management, budget management, staff management and resource management
  4. Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
  5. Extensive experience working in the laboratory including experience in staff training and competency assessment
  6. Demonstrated understanding and sound knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
