About the Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. 
  
You will also be based at differing locations across Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). 

  

The Research Data Manager is an integral member of the District’s Clinical Research Centre. The Centre’s focus is on “making quality research, easier” whilst strengthening capacity for sustainable, relevant translational research within the health service. The Centre’s staff provide statistical, data management, business advice, operational guidance, tools and education with the aim of building capacity and removing barriers to research.

  

The Research Data Manager will be part of a small team responsible for providing research data management advice and support to the District’s researchers, as well as the Administration of the District’s REDCap installation. The successful candidate will be working in a complex environment where there are competing priorities and a requirement to work to deadlines.

  

They will be required to provide advice to researchers on data management best practice, database design, REDCap functionality and project development. They will also be an Administrator of the REDCap application which will require them to troubleshoot issues, manage accounts, test new versions of software and train staff. The successful candidate will be supported by the Clinical Research Centre team and will work closely with other employees in a fast paced, high volume, rewarding work environment

Ideal Candidate
  • Has demonstrated experience in data management and software system design and development, including the ability to develop or adopt software systems, experience in systems security and server and/or domain administration, and extensive experience in Analyst duties.
  • Brings a strong sense of enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards their work, thrives on tackling challenges and working collaboratively within a dynamic, high-performing team and passionate about advancing research and supporting data management.
  • Has extensive experience in "Analyst" and data management duties and or formal qualifications in data systems analysis such as Bachelor of Science.
  • Proven ability to problem solve, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates significant and varied experience with the REDCap application, skilled at making complex technical concepts accessible and actionable for research staff, keen insight into understanding and working well with people, including those from a wide variety of professional backgrounds and circumstances and excels at fostering positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data management challenges researchers may face in adapting to new systems, maintaining data security and ensuring privacy and ethics compliance in a rapidly changing environment.
