Our District Research Operations is seeking to engage a Research Business Unit Manager. Reporting to the Director of Research Operations, the Research Business Unit Manager will support the NBMLHD Research Directorate and research units in the achievement of business and financial objectives.

The successful incumbent will assist NBMLHD in meeting its business management obligations, and the effective implementation of systems to manage research grants, clinical trials, budgets and resource allocations. This includes delivering efficiencies and supporting the reliability, integrity and accuracy of financial information related to the conduct of clinical trials and other research.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Relevant degree qualification and/or equivalent extensive experience in research operations and or research financial management, in a research or health environment.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage a business unit that supports research and clinical trials activity across a large and complex organisation, including financial, human resources and contract management, and management of stakeholder relationships.
  3. Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills including highly developed people management, influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to lead and motivate staff.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead significant change processes to achieve strategic objectives.
  5. Demonstrated high level project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines and deliver project outcomes.
  6. Working knowledge of governance and operation of clinical trials including clinical trials financial and contract management. Familiarity with other aspects of research business operations such as research grants administration, intellectual property and commercialisation aspects of research business unit management.
  7. Excellent analytical skills and capacity to interpret financial and non-financial data.
  8. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic plans, lead development of operational plans, and to lead implementation processes.
