About the role:

As a Registered Nurse within the service, you will be responsible for the care coordination of clients with a range of mental health conditions, ensuring that they receive high-quality, person-centred care. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will strive to achieve identified goals and outcomes for each client. The role involves working Monday to Friday, from 0830 to 1700.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in working with individuals who have diverse mental health diagnoses and will be able to work efficiently and effectively within a team. You will possess the skills to assess risk and conduct mental state examinations. Exceptional communication skills and a passion for building therapeutic relationships will be essential to your success in this position. You will be supported by the Team Manager and Clinical Coordinator, with clinical supervision available and encouraged. Additionally, you will become part of the wider HNELHS MHS network, gaining access to ongoing support and educational opportunities from key district support positions.

The position is based at North West Mental Health Services on the Tamworth Hospital site, with potential travel requirements within a 2.5-hour radius. North West Mental Health Services delivers acute mental health care throughout the Peel catchment, with a multidisciplinary team that includes Psychiatrists, Resident Medical Officers, Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals. You will join a progressive and innovative service responsible for mental health assessments and treatment within the communities of the Peel catchment. 

The service upholds a strong clinical governance framework to ensure high-quality mental health care is provided to every patient, every time. The team is committed to driving change and innovation in ambulatory mental health services, supported by a leadership team that includes various multidisciplinary roles offering robust support in your role.

  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
  • This position is full time; however, part time and/or job share arrangements will be considered.
  • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.

Requirements:

Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work
  • Demonstrated previous experience in Mental Health Nursing or possess an interest and eagerness to learn and broaden their skills in this area.
