What you’ll be doing

As a Provisional Fellow in Nephrology you will provide support to the renal services at St George Hospital through supervised management of non-inpatients, including general nephrology, hypertension, dialysis and transplant patients. At least half of the time in this position will be dedicated to a specific research project, related to the research interests of the department. Some opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching will be available.

The remainder of the role will include the provision of outpatient services in nephrology, hypertension, dialysis, obstetric medicine and transplantation along with teaching of junior medical doctors and medical students attached to the renal team, participation in regular department clinical teaching activities and occasional on-call.

Routine management of inpatients is only required when covering for renal advanced trainee leave (approximately 8 weeks per year). 


Education will be provided through direct clinic supervision, weekly departmental meetings, research supervision and, if desired, participation in the NSW state-wide nephrology training programme.

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Experience in Renal Medicine
  3. Experience in Research methodology.
  4. Experience in Obstetric Medicine
  5. Progress towards FRACP
