About the Role
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Midwifery Manager to join our SLHD team. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic leader with recent midwifery and management experience at a senior level within a maternity service.
This position is a key lead in SLHD Maternity services to coordinate and direct midwifery standards of practice and models of care and to direct the design, development and implementation of projects in the areas of midwifery, maternity and workforce planning. This position is Monday to Friday.

Ideal Candidate
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Broad clinical midwifery and management experience at a senior level within a maternity service with demonstrated experience in operational and strategic planning activities, appropriate tertiary qualifications, or relevant work experience or a combination of study and work experience.
- Ability to implement contemporary models of care within a maternity service, with the aim of improving continuity, collaboration and care coordination for women to improve outcomes and the experience for women and their families.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to motivate and organise individuals and teams to reach their full potential and scope of practice, and achieve stream and organisational goals. This includes the ability to advise, implement and monitor governance frameworks to support clinical practice across Midwifery.
