What you'll be doing

The Position of Maintenance Plumber is to provide the day to day plumbing maintenance services including minor/major plumbing works, repairs, installation, inspections, operation and repair of plumbing equipment and systems throughout the St George Hospital site and Community Health centre sites to ensure the maintenance objectives are met in a timely, reliable and efficient manner.   

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated plumbing experience in maintenance of large building complexes and facility maintenance, preferably hospitals, and proven ability to work and cooperate with a multidisciplinary team of trade, non-trade, and contract staff to efficiently deliver maintenance services in a busy work environment.
  2. Able to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision while following safe work practices.
  3. Proven skills in fault finding and problem solving, including the ability to interpret building and services plans.
  4. Plumbing trade qualification and knowledge and application of relevant Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.
  5. Be able to participate in an on-call roster, be available for afterhours call ins and work overtime as the need arises.
  6. Sound written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and work order systems. Interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively personally and within a team environment in the workplace.
  7. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Work, Health and Safety and preferably hold a current white card Occupational Health and Safety General Induction for Construction in NSW Certificate.
  8. Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
