This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

About the role:

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in both acute and community healthcare settings? We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team at Inverell Community Health.

In this rewarding role, you will work across a diverse caseload, providing high-quality, person-centred care to both adults and children. Your work will span a variety of environments, including home visits, outpatient services, and clinic-based interventions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments and delivering tailored interventions to promote independence and quality of life

  • Prescribing assistive equipment and coordinating home modifications to support safe and functional living

  • Actively contributing to our Child Development Clinic, collaborating closely with families and multidisciplinary team members

  • Working alongside experienced professionals to provide holistic, evidence-based care

You will be well supported in your role, with ongoing supervision, professional development opportunities, and mentorship from both the Occupational Therapy Manager and Professional Lead. Whether you are an experienced clinician or a new graduate, you will be part of a supportive team committed to excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

Where you’ll be working:

Situated along the picturesque MacIntyre River, Inverell is a vibrant and welcoming rural town renowned for its rich history and natural beauty. Affectionately known as Australia’s Sapphire City, Inverell sits in the heart of gemstone country, offering a unique blend of country charm and modern convenience.

The town is easily accessible - just a 7-hour drive from Sydney and under 5 hours from Brisbane. For those who prefer to travel by air, regular flights operate from Inverell with three weekly services to Sydney and four to Brisbane.

At the centre of healthcare in the region is Inverell Hospital, a modern 52-bed facility delivering a wide range of services to the North Western New England community. These include:

  • Emergency care

  • General surgery and GP clinic

  • Maternity and paediatric services

  • Medical imaging

  • Allied health support including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, and Renal services

About You:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupation Therapist, who is able to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to clearly document treatment plans and progress.

Requirements:

  • Occupational Therapist with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy

  • *Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position. All payments made to part time employees will be on a pro-rata basis.   • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
