About the Opportunity
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is pivotal to the coordination of patient care and the management and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and efficient use of resources. The NUM role will coordinate and be responsible for the Child and Family Health nursing team that will be based at Rosemeadow as well as the Sustaining NSW Families Team which is a multidisciplinary team.
This position will  be responsible for the day-to-day management of both programs and manage a team that is transitioning from Narellan Community Health Centre to Rosemeadow Community Health Centre. 

 

What You'll be Doing
South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) has a comprehensive service that has a Child and Family Health nursing service which incorporates targeted home visiting services primarily for families with Vulnerabilities as well as child and family health services offered through clinics Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) is a structured Child and Family Health Nurse (CFHN) led sustained home visiting program for children 0 – 2 years of age and their families. It is an evidenced based intervention for families living in areas of socio-economic disadvantage that have been identified as vulnerable and at risk of poor maternal health and wellbeing and poorer child health and developmental outcomes. Families are visited by their allocated CFHN from the antenatal period until their baby turns two.

How to Apply

  1. Registered Nurse-Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and hold a postgraduate qualification relevant to Child and Family Health or demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and extensive post-graduate experience relevant to child and family health nursing practice.
  2. Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting.
  3. Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit are managed to provide a safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive
  4. Demonstrated high-level interpersonal communication, negotiation, problem solving and adaptability skills with the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and manage performance issues when they arise.
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the management of the unit and the delivery of evidenced based nursing care.
  7. Proven ability to implement policy, and develop and implement procedures, guidelines, models of care, and strategic, operational and governance plans relating to nursing and child and family health practice.
  8. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
