About Us

The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

Our district's Nursing Workforce aims to provide a safe, compassionate, person-centred health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams. The Nurse Unit Manager Level 1 (NUM1) is responsible for clinical leadership within the Triage and Assessment Centre (TAC) environment. The successful incumbent will ensure that TAC team delivers a high standard of patient engagement to its clients and stakeholders.

This position is pivotal to the coordination of patient flow to enable the delivery of safe, effective, quality nursing care and efficient use of resources. What you will bring to the role:

  1. Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) AND extensive relevant post registration Mental Health nursing experience.
  2. Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with clinicians, managers, staff and other key stakeholders and manage conflict.
  3. Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for nursing services in the contemporary health care environment.
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, mentor, encourage and guide others to enable them to reach their full potential.
  5. Demonstrated ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit/ward are managed to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources.
  6. Evidence of and commitment to patient/client/customer focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
  7. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation, Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
