About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity is being offer to a highly skilled Registered Nurse as a Nurse Practitioner for Drug Health Services. A unique service that works with people with drug and alcohol issues providing a number of programs to support people in our communities.
This nurse will be highly skilled and provide advanced practice skills for clients in the speciality. An enthusiastic clinical leader who will bring innovative ideas and lead the Drug Health services teams into the future.
What You'll be Doing
The Nurse Practitioner is educated and endorsed to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role. The NP role includes assessment and management using nursing knowledge and skills. The role may include, but is not limited to, the direct referral of patients to other health care professionals, prescribing medications and initiating and interpreting diagnostic investigations.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated ability to undertake comprehensive health assessments of patients within target populations in order to collect relevant clinical data to inform clinical and diagnostic decision making processes
- Demonstrated ability to articulate sound reasoning behind clinical, diagnostic and prescribing decisions that are informed by evidence based practice and made within a nursing context
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical and reflective thinking, complex reasoning and analysis to guide assessments, clinical judgements and decisions whilst managing complete episodes of patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a clinical leadership role evidenced by participation in practice development activities including mentoring, education, active participation in
- communities of practice, policy development, research and quality improvement.
