Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Hawkesbury District Hospital within the Department of Paediatrics.
Successful applicants will be expected to provide on call, admitting, consultative, outpatient and teaching specialty services as determined and required by the Network.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and may be required to participate in other on call rosters at nominated facilities within Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District as determined by clinical operations.
The appointee will be required to perform duties consistent with that expected of an experienced Specialist Paediatrician.
The VMO will provide high-quality patient focused care for patients and their families/significant others and prioritise patient needs and attend patients with competence, care and compassion.
The number of sessions will be negotiated. The VMO will be expected to be 24 hours on call on the rostered day.

Selection Criteria
1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Public Hospital (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional (Contracts) Determination. Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
3. Sound clinical knowledge in Paediatrics demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical / Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behavior to junior medical staff.
7. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Paediatrics Medicine demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
8. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014.
