Join Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) as a Visiting Medical Officer – Palliative Care Specialist and be at the heart of delivering seamless, compassionate end-of-life care across our region.

The Palliative Care Specialist will provide a Specialist Medical Service across the LHD, including direct clinical management and education, for the specialist palliative care service.

🔹 Your Role:
You'll lead specialist medical services across the LHD, providing direct clinical management and expert education within our dedicated palliative care teams. You'll also collaborate closely with non-specialist providers to enhance end-of-life care across inpatient facilities, residential aged care, and the community.

🔹 Our Scope:
MLHD’s Specialist Palliative Care Services span urban and rural communities, integrating community-based care and in-reach services to hospitals and aged care homes.

🔹 Collaboration at Its Best:
Work in strong partnership with key stakeholders like Calvary Riverina Healthcare, St Vincent’s Hospital Outreach, and a broad network of acute, aged, and community care services to strengthen service delivery and continuity of care.

🔹 Why MLHD?
With a vast and diverse region to serve, MLHD offers the opportunity to shape palliative care for entire communities—building capacity, improving patient journeys, and working within a dedicated, supportive multidisciplinary team.

The Palliative Care Specialist maintains strong partnerships with external stakeholders including, however not limited to; Calvary Riverina Healthcare, Saint Vincent Hospital (SVH) out-reach services, and other acute, aged, community based and affiliated services. The position will work with staff at these facilities to support service delivery where appropriate.
