What you'll be doing
The SCHN is looking for dynamic, innovative individuals to help us lead, direct and develop the Health Information Services now and into the future at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Health Information Unit. We are entering into an exciting period with the introduction of an electronic medical record as a part of our Memory Strategy.
The primary purpose of the casual transcriptionist is the responsibility for typing dictated SCHN Outpatient clinic letters, reports, and referrals in a timely manner. The incumbent must have the ability to understand what the healthcare worker has recorded, correctly transcribe that information and identify any inaccuracies in the transcript.
- Ability to type 60 words per minute with experience with digital dictaphone typing.
- Well-developed customer service and demonstrated attention to detail.
- Experience with SCHN computer applications such as PowerChart, eMR and CRIS. Excellent computer skills such as Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as ability to work independently under limited direction and guidance.
- Possess excellent organisational skills to effectively prioritise and maintain workflow and devote appropriate attention to all responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to generate and action reports.
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology and a good understanding of the English language and grammar.
