The SMART Senior Physiotherapist provides expert physiotherapy services to patients on the In Reach Rehabilitation program in the acute setting at Royal North Shore Hospital. This challenging and rewarding role works within a dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team that provides rehabilitation to patients across a range of clinical areas including neurology, orthopaedics, renal, oncology, and respiratory.

In Reach Rehabilitation team, Royal North Shore Hospital

What you'll be doing:
To provide Inreach Rehabilitation SMART Physiotherapy services as part of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team, and to work collaboratively and flexibly within all physiotherapy services at RNSH. The Senior Clinical Physiotherapist in this position requires high level clinical skills, knowledge and experience working in inreach rehabilitation physiotherapy services. A level 3 Physiotherapist is required to demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills and operate autonomously with minimum direct clinical supervision. They will be required to provide clinical services to client groups and circumstances of a complex nature using advanced practice skills. Supervision of students will be required as per the award. The level 3 Physiotherapist will be a resource role for RNSH within acute neurology including stroke or general rehabilitation. They may also conduct clinical research and participate in the provision of clinical in-service education programs to staff and students.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:      

  1. Full registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical rehabilitation experience with a minimum as a Level 2 Physiotherapist. Demonstrated current clinical knowledge of acute inreach rehabilitation physiotherapy and a high level of interventional skills in the rehabilitation management of musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory and functional decline conditions. Level 2 knowledge and skill in neurological conditions.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in ability to work autonomously with limited supervision. Have the ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload, apply high level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgement.
  3. Demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge in the provision of current physiotherapy practice. A strong commitment to an evidence-based service to provide for consumers, carers and families requiring rehabilitation assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
