What you'll be doing
This position is responsible for the design, leadership, development, and maintenance of the change management, and communications activities for the electronic patient record across multiple facilities and services of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. 

As part of this role the successful applicant will be responsible for the development and execution of the change management plans, communications plans, stakeholder management plans, and with assisting with the identification and realization of changes to policies, procedures, and clinical workflows.

Of key focus will be the people side of change, and in creating and implementing a change management plan that minimises clinician resistance whilst simultaneously maximising the levels of clinician engagement. The role will be integral in supporting and enabling the models of care developed by the clinicians through the eMR. 

The objective of ISLHD eHealth strategy is to ensure the foundations of the eMR are working to support clinical practice and implement expanded functionality of the electronic Medical Record system across all inpatient and various outpatient settings, within all wards and departments of all hospital facilities, within the identified districts and sites.

This includes supporting initiatives such as electronic medication management. The position will lead the change management and communication areas of the eMR training (business as usual team).

The position is focused on the improvement of patient safety and decision making, during all phases of the patient journey (from admissions to discharge), through the provisioning of an accurate and comprehensive set of electronic clinical documentation, available in real time, accessible at the bedside, and promoting patient mobility between hospital facilities within the health District.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in a clinical field or equivalent clinical work experience or a combination of relevant study and work experience. Understanding of health business processes and organisation structures and highly developed and effective management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage change management aspects of projects to completion in a timely and cost effective manner – particularly with complex clinical and corporate information systems projects.
  • Advanced demonstrated ability to develop and maintain essential change management products such as stakeholder engagement registers and engagement quadrants as well as tailoring change management plans to the needs of each facility.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing change management products and in engaging with stakeholders at sites successfully in delivering clinical information systems projects.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational change management skills and ability to engage clinicians in business process design. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Highly developed and effective negotiation and delegation skills and proven capacity to engage with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven team player with exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work and lead with and through others. Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and achieve tight deadlines.
  • Experience in or knowledge of quality and risk management and/or clinical redesign. Demonstrated experience utilising project management approaches and tools to support the successful delivery of each phase of the project lifecycle minimising organisational resistance.
  • An unencumbered driver’s licence valid for use with NSW/ Australia and the ability to drive to facility locations and stay overnight where required, on an ad hoc basis and for system go- lives.
