About The Opportunity
Join our dynamic team at LMCTC as a Senior Radiation Therapist Head of Treatment (HOT). In this pivotal role, you will manage the radiation therapy treatment services, provide leadership and supervision, and stay updated with the latest equipment and treatment techniques. You will work closely with the Director of Radiation Therapy and other Assistant Directors for strategic planning.
To be successful in this role you will be an enthusiastic, dedicated and professional Radiation Therapist, a highly effective communicator who can work seamlessly within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team. You will be driven to provide optimum care to patients and actively ensure continuous improvement for both your own skills and the department to ensure quality, safe, patient care. Bringing your strong clinical experience to the role, you will be able to ensure outstanding service delivery and work as part of the team to aid education, mentoring and instruction to staff and students within the department and work to grow the future of radiation
therapy.
The Head of Treatment will co-ordinate and undertake treatment projects and activities within the Radiation Therapy team across the Service, overseeing all treatment activities, treatment imaging activities, developmental work and research projects. They will need to collaborate closely with the Radiation Therapy Head of Quality and Head of Planning and deputise for them as required.
SWSLHD Radiation Oncology Service operates over two sites (Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals) and consists of 3 Elekta Linacs (one with Exactrac Dynamic), Orthovoltage and a Phillips CT at Campbelltown and 3 Elekta Linacs (one with Exactrac dynamic), a Tomotherapy unit, Brachytherapy, Orthovoltage, a Phillips CT, a Siemens CT and a dedicated 3T Siemens MRI at Liverpool to offer patients in the district a comprehensive Radiotherapy Service.
What you'll be doing
They will mentor staff undertaking treatment activities and audits, participating in multidisciplinary treatment projects and the development and continuation of first class patient care. It is not intended that the post holder will solely undertake all these activities, rather that they will oversee them, ensuring appropriate actions are undertaken within the department by all staff, with timely and accurate treatment delivery and quality data collection as appropriate. In addition the HOT will be required to liaise with the Director of Radiation Therapy and other Assistant Directors of Radiation Therapy within SWSLHD for strategic planning for the Radiation Therapy Service.

- Successful completion of a degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent qualification recognised by the AHPRA. Holder of a Statement of Accreditation and registration with AHPRA. Eligible to hold a NSW EPA Radiation Licence and can demonstrate evidence of working at a level 4 grade 1 Radiation Therapist.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including the capacity to promote initiative within a group, being self-motivated and self-directed to supervise,
educate, train and objectively assess Radiation Therapists and student RT's in current and new practice and technologies and provide advice to remedy deficiencies in knowledge and skills. - Demonstrated high level of understanding of Radiation Therapy QA and Radiation Safety principles and practices with proven experience with high energy linear accelerators with electron capabilities and multileaf collimation (MLC), experience with electronic and surface guided verification imaging, and
experience with treatment planning systems with CT interface. Experience and proven ability to implement and provide clinical support in areas including SABR, SRS, motion management and orthovoltage/superficial treatment delivery. - Can demonstrate an interest in and knowledge of radiation therapy treatment and verification imaging processes and provide evidence of active participation in some form of treatment activities, development, auditing, etc.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both spoken and written including the ability to clearly communicate complex issues to all levels of radiation therapy staff and the MDT team; as well as the ability to relate to patients, visitors, the various staff groups within the hospital and vendors as required
