About the role:

The work in this position is varied, fast pace and exciting! You will have the opportunity to work with health staff from the various disciplines to support patients and their families with discharge planning. You will gain and build on core Social Work values and skills in areas of NDIS, aged care, stroke, trauma, crisis intervention and grief and loss.  

To support the growth of the Hospital, this position will be a part of a weekend roster providing social work support 7-days a week. Participation in a weekend roster will allow for a flexible work schedule, including weekdays off to compliment the weekend work schedule.

To aid your success in this role, you will be supported by the Maitland Site Senior as well as a senior member of the team, who both value and support the ongoing professional development of staff. Team members are regularly supported to attend learning in line with their career development and area of employment. 

Where you’ll be working:

You will be working in the fast-growing community of Maitland and its surrounding areas at Maitland Hospital. This position is newly appointed to reflect the growth of the hospital since its relocation. You will be working on a variety of General Medicine and Surgical wards with various opportunities to cover other areas within the Hospital.

About You:

We are looking for a social worker who is keen to start or continue to build on their career in a well-supported caring environment.

The successful applicant must demonstrate strong time management skills, and the ability to prioritise and reprioritise workloads continuously throughout the day. We are looking for a team player who can engage the various teams within health, whilst also demonstrating ability to work independently and seek support and guidance when needed. 

Requirements:
 

  • Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
