About the Opportunity
SWSLHD Drug Health Services is a district wide service that aims to improve the health of our community and reduce drug & alcohol-related harms. The service delivers specialist drug and alcohol prevention, treatment and support services from inpatient, outpatient, outreach and integrated healthcare settings.

The General Manager position will work with a range of disciplines within this complex service and has the opportunity to influence the operation and direction of the service including developments occurring in the LHD. In addition, the General Manager is a key member of the LHD Operational Leadership Team and Healthier Communities Directorate. The General Manager works with other government and non-government organisations in the sector.

 

What You'll be Doing
The General Manager (GM), Drug Health Services (DHS) is responsible for planning, directing and managing the total operations and resources of DHS across South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). Key to this role is ensuring proper integration and effective and efficient provision of high-quality health services in alignment with the SWSLHD Strategic Plan and organisational objectives and NSW Health policy direction.  

This includes the continual implementation of the ‘Transforming Your Experience’ initiative, aimed at positively transforming how patients, consumers, staff and communities experience SWSLHDs organisation and services. Our vision is that our care is always safe, high quality and personalised and all our staff are supported and empowered to achieve their full potential. This strategy provides us with a clear direction for working together to deliver safe and high quality health services and build the health of our communities – now and into the future.

 

  

Where You'll Be Working 
SWSLHD Drug Health Services operates across the South Western Sydney Local Health District, providing a comprehensive range of treatments and interventions for individuals, families, and carers affected by alcohol and other drug use.

The services include inpatient withdrawal at the 'Corella' unit in Fairfield, the Opioid Treatment Program, outpatient clinics, and specialised teams such as the Aboriginal Drug & Alcohol Team and the Youth Service. Recognised for their excellence, SWSLHD Drug Health Services has been a finalist in the NSW Health Excellence in Allied Health Awards, highlighting their commitment to high-quality care and innovation.

  1. Tertiary degree in medicine, business, management or other relevant discipline and specific undergraduate or post-graduate qualifications in health services management or related discipline and demonstrates experience in senior or executive management in a large and complex organisation.

  4. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
