Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.  What you'll be doing
The mechanical fitter performs efficient and compliant reactive maintenance works and planned maintenance activities for all mechanical systems, plant and equipment including mandatory inspections in a cost effective and timely manner. 
The role provides mechanical maintenance services in line with the NSW Health total asset management guidelines, ensuring compliance with statutory, legislative and code requirements including satisfying Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) strategic and business objectives

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in mechanical (fitting & machining) trade with a tradesmen's certificate of competency

Fitter/Motor Mechanic Level 1: Complete Apprenticeship and/or holds relevant trade certificate or equivalent
Fitter/Motor Mechanic Level 2: 120 hours of approved courses completed
Fitter/Motor Mechanic Level 3: 240 hours of approved courses completed
Fitter/Motor Mechanic Level 4: 360 hours of approved courses completed

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and successfully undertake work in a busy, dynamic role with a minimum of supervision
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of a wide range of industrial systems, processes and automated equipment (example: steam plant, reticulated fluids and gases, washing and sterilising equipment, food production equipment, heat exchangers, pumps and valves) and ability to fault find and carry out repairs in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  3. Proven fitting, machining and welding experience in a maintenance environment, experience with steam boilers and related plant, superior diagnostics abilities
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of software programs (eg: Word, Excel, Outlook)
  5. The ability to maintain stock and workflow in a Mechanical Fitter’s workshop
