Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) Emergency Department is seeking a knowledgeable, experienced Facilities and Equipment Manager who thrives with working in a multidisciplinary team environment, has clinical experience in contributing to the outcomes and objectives in providing safe, effective, reliable & well maintained medical devices for patient care.

What you'll be doing
The Equipment Manager (EM) manages the clinical equipment for patient care within the Emergency Department (ED). The objective is to provide safe, effective, reliable &well maintained medical devices for patient care throughout the ED.

  • Procurement, acceptance, fault management, routine testing &disposal of medical devices which must be achieved in a reliable, cost effective manner, consistent with the clinical needs for the device and the priorities of the ED.
  • The role will include organising maintenance &safety checking of all equipment within ED and;
  • Ordering the supply of sterile and non-sterile stock required for ED patient management.
  • The EM provides technical solutions to clinical problems through the resources of the Clinical Technology Service (CTS) & external providers. The role requires development &facilitation of pathways for trouble shooting equipment issues.
  • The EM, in conjunction with CTS employs the required processes & procedures to maintain the ED equipment pool. This includes troubleshooting of issues within the ED, education of staff on equipment operation & assisting with the assessment of new equipment.
  • In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC), & relevant Emergency Consultants the EM will assist with the biomedical checking, evaluation &auditing of trial equipment &assist with the implementation of in-service training for new equipment.
  • The role requires maintenance of computerised asset registers & history of all ED equipment along with quality control (QC) documentation.
  • Tracking of all equipment that leaves the ED is an essential component of this role and involves liaising with other departments within the hospital, such as operating theatres, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Clinical Resource Unit (CRU), CTS and the SSD for retrieval/return of equipment.
  • A major responsibility is the maintenance of stocks of specialised ED consumables including fluids &gases &requires liaison with medical companies when required.
  • Liaison with ICT regarding computer replacement, maintenance &repair including peripherals.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrated experience with patient related equipment technology. Understanding of equipment/stock usage and maintenance within a health environment.
  2. Recent demonstrated experience working in Emergency or ICU department within a tertiary hospital.
  3. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment and demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
